Strategy/Special Events

There are three types of events in Tiny Tower that happen without the influence of the player at all. The first is elevator requests, the second VIP visits and the third Deliveries & Messages. Though all fairly straightforward in process, some simple strategies can make each of these easier to deal with or more profitable for the player.

Advanced Strategy: Big Spender Optimization

One business can always be loaded to be ready for the Big Spender, such that the most expensive item waiting to stock and the others are sold out, eliminating the risk of wasting the VIP. In cases where the player has multiple stores appropriate for the Big Spender, these can be cycled so to accomodate for multiple Big Spenders in between those long stocking times.

Once the VIP shows his face in the elevator, the player can stock the waiting business to the maximum and send him right up.

Though the same result can be accomplished by hurrying the most expensive item and quick selling the cheaper ones. This strategy is effective when there are less than 2 hours remaining to restock, otherwise hurrying and quick selling can potentially cost a hefty amount of Tower Bux, more valuable than the coins lost in the downtime of the waiting businesses here.

Of course, this strategy grants no extra money, but does relieve some pressure of a player with many floors. Additionally, there is nothing quite so satisfying as getting the maximum out of a Big Spender.

Advanced Strategy: Color Coding Bitizens

Color Coding.png

When relying on Deliveries & Messages to make Tower Bux, the player with many many floors and Bitizens may be slowed down by hunting for someone whose name he or she has forgotten. Instead of scrolling up and down endlessly, color coding is an option.

Each Bitizen that lives in the tower can be redressed at will through their character panel. Though their skin and hair colors will remain, hair styles and all of their clothes and accessories will be re-randomized.

If persistent, the player can effectively take the guesswork out of where a Bitizen works based solely on their image. In combination with grouping all residential floors together, it becomes a relatively quick and simple matter to find any Bitizen in the building at any time.

Advanced Strategy: Costume Coding Bitizens

A very quick way to find employees is to find a suitable costume for every commercial floor they work in - as already suggested in "Floor Name Coding". Dress all three employees in one floor with the same costume that has a strong connection to the floor to be used in. With Tiny Tower Version 1.5, now 95 commercial floors and 98 costumes are available which makes it easier to find the right costume for every floor. Here are some obvious pairs:

  • Bank - Business Suit
  • Barber Shop - Barber
  • Coffee House - Barista
  • Comedy Club - Clown
  • Comic Store - Super Hero
  • Courthouse - Judge & Convict
  • Laboratory - Mad Scientist
  • Security Office - Security
  • Sky Burger - Fast Food
  • Nightclub- Usher

Some of the pairs you create, need to have your own story to have a connection easy to remember.

  • Floral Studio - Bee Suit (The only place, a bee is really happy)
  • Grocery Store - Pumpkin (Looking for some friends)
  • Tea House - Panda Suit (Chinese food)
  • Vegan Food - Chicken Suit (Well...)

Advanced Strategy: Floor Name Coding

To speed up locating Bitizens for Deliveries & Messages the player can alternatively rename apartments and shops based on the initials of the Bitizens therein. For example, the Soda Brewery could be renamed to "Soda YK CD LT" if Yolanda Kim, C. Daniels and Laura Turner are working there. Though, if the player does this, he or she will only have 5 characters for the actual name of the shop, if desired.

To create an even stronger mnemonic, when used in conjunction with Costumes, the player can rename a floor based on a theme. For example, the Soda Brewery could be renamed "Pirate Brewery" if the player dresses all of its workers in the pirate costume.

The player can similarly rename apartments, but with 5 possible residents, he or she will not have any space to give the apartment any shortened name.

To rename a floor, first tap the floor to open the usual restocking or resident dialog box, and then tap the floor name at the top.

Another Strategy: Bitizen Finding using an external tool

You may want to use the external app named BitFinder (free with ad). Take screenshots of your apartment, select them in the app, and the app recognizes bitizens' name and lists them alphabetically. Find-a-bitizen event is more frequent than resident change, this app can help you easily find your bitizens.
