This page serves as a compendium of methods of cheating in Tiny Tower. All of these methods work for non-jailbroken devices. Not that we think you should cheat or anything.

Contents

Time & Date Exploits

Tiny Tower functions on the Time and Date settings of your iOS Device. Therefore, by setting the internal clock on your device to a future time and/or date, the game will progress as such.

Warning

Whenever you alter your time in your iOS device, you run the risk of:

  • Losing game data
  • Harming your software
  • Harming your personal data
  • Odd glitches from messing with Date and Time such as having to sign into Messages, FaceTime, ect.

To ensure that no game data is harmed, it is suggested that BEFORE you set your time forward:

  • You know how much time you will need to set the device for (ie; a floor has 1 Day to be built.)
  • You have the items you'd like to sell quickly stocked
  • You have the items selected that are to be stocked

To ensure that no game data is harmed, it is suggested that AFTER you set your time forward:

  • You have accepted all stock updates and "Floor Completed" notifications (ie; your floor is built after 1 day, and you have accepted it.)
  • You have NOT started any new stocking or building processes (ie; you have not tried to stock another item in your building.) This is crucial, because by stocking another item/building another floor, you effectively extend the amount of time needed to stock the item/building another floor.

Methods

Fast Foward

Follow these steps to quickly stock, sell, or build floors in your tower.

  1. Open up your Settings on your iOS Device, then proceed to General>Date & Time.
  2. Make sure the setting is at "Set Automatically" or the current date and time of your location.
  3. Open the Tiny Tower Application.
  4. Request to stock any items, stock any items, or request to build any floors. Look for the longest time required to stock an item, or the time it takes to build a floor.
  5. Return to the Date & Time menu on your iOS Device, and set the Date and/or Time forward according to the length of time needed to fully stock or build your tower. For example, if your next floor takes one day to build, set the clock forward one day. If the item that would go in stock last takes 5 hours, progress the clock 5 hours. When aiming to quick sell your items, it is suggested that you move forward about a day or two.
  6. Stock all remaining items in your tower and accept all finished building notifications, and DO NOT restock anything or build any floors. MAKE SURE even if you did not get a finished building notification, you still check on the floor that was being built. In some cases, a notification may not pop up, but the floor could be completed.
  7. Return to your Date and Time Settings, and change the clock back to "Set Automatically".
  8. Close out and reopen Tiny Tower (ie; shut down the application process in the Application Switching Dock, and then reopen it on your Home screen) otherwise your game will freeze and all sales will come to a complete standstill.

Instant Birthday

The Instant Birthday method is similar to the Quick Stock/Quick Sell/Quick Build Method, and is used to quickly gain Tower Bux. Follow the steps below to easily gain Tower Bux

  1. Open up your Settings on your iOS Device, then proceed to General>Date & Time.
  2. Make sure the setting is at "Set Automatically" or the current date and time of your location.
  3. Open the Tiny Tower Application.
  4. Go to any residential floor. Select one Bitizen, and see what their birthday is.
  5. Open up your Date and Time preferences, and change the date to the Bitizen's birthday. If it had already passed in the calendar year so far, set it to the next (ie; if the Bitzen's birthday is 27 August, and the date that you are playing is 19 September 2011, Set the date to 27 August 2012).
  6. Open up Tiny Tower, and claim your free Tower Bux!
  7. Make sure that all of your stock requests have been accepted, as well as all building notifications.
  8. If you would like to continue gaining Tower Bux, progress the Date and Time on your device by 1 year, and go back in to Tiny Tower to claim your Bux. Continue this until you have the desired amount of Bux.
  9. MAKE SURE that all stock requests have been accepted, all building notifications have been accepted, and that there are no current countdowns for more stock or building projects have been created.
  10. After fulfilling the step above, return to your Date and Time to the "Set Automatically" option.

Joan Burns Glitch

Step 1. Tap on any shop which has a hire spot free

Step 2. Tap on hire (the hire position on the far right must be used) and then anywhere else on the page really quickly. This might take several tries.

Step 3. If step 2 was done correctly, a box which says "Give (null) a job in the (the shop that you used)"

If you select yes, nothing will happen except a comment on BitBook by "Joan Burns", a non-existent Bitizen saying that they really hate their job.

Earning Tower Bux

If you use this method on the Sushi Bar, the same thing will happen except it will tell you that you have placed (null) in their Dream Job and it will give you 2 Tower Bux. The icon of null changes every time you do the glitch, but they will always be wearing a khaki shirt. This is a really good glitch for making Tower Bux quickly. It's much faster than continuously changing the time so that it's a Bitizen's birthday, because with this glitch, you don't have to leave the app. The only downside is that you need the Sushi Bar to do it with. However, don't forget that with the time and date cheat, getting a Sushi Bar could be done in a day.

Restocking Glitch

This glitch allows restocking a product even if it hasn't sold out yet. Coins are still deducted and the product is still sold while stocking. This questionably ethical act can be performed as follows:

  1. Select any commercial floor
  2. Fire one of the employees
  3. Select a Bitizen to hire back
  4. QUICKLY tap "Yes" twice to hire them and a prompt will ask if you if you want to Sell of Gift the product you selected. Now you can see the item (usually the 2-Coin or 3-Coin value product) stocking in the upper right-hand corner of the floor. Tapping Sell or Gift will crash the app and stop the stocking, so...
  5. Close the app entirely and restart it

Now the item that was already stocked is restocking again! This can be used to obtain ludicrous amounts of a product (like from the Private Eye, Doctor's Office, or Animation Studio) for Big Spender VIPs to buy, potentially netting well over 100,000 coins all at once! Another thing!: If you do not have enough Tower Bux to Sell of Gift the current amount of stock, just hit Continue and skip the step about closing the app and restarting it.

iExplorer Hacks

iExplorer, formerly iPhone Explorer, is a free program that allows you to view files on your iDevice without a jailbreak. It can be downloaded here.

Warnings

Make sure to make backups of the original file in case you make a mistake.

Methods

Infinite Tower Bux

Works on nonJailBroken Phones

  1. Close the Tiny Tower application on your device (it must be off and not just background tasking).
  2. Connect your device to your computer and open com.eeenmachines.tinytowers in iExplorer.
  3. Open Documents
  4. Click and drag missions.plist to your desktop.
  5. Copy missions.plist and make a duplicate named missions-original.plist (incase of mistakes).
  6. Open missions.plist in Notepad, or another text editing program (Notepad retains file subsets, other programs may not)
  7. You will see a bunch of text like: <dict><key>bitCostume</key><string>madhatter</string><key>bitSeed</key><string>1234567</string><key>description</key><string>A Mad Hatter is thowing a absolutely mad tea party and needs the following:\N</string><key>name</key><string>One Mad Tea Party</string><key>products</key><string>2:0:1500,14:0:2800</string><key>reward</key<string>10</string></dict>. This example is the very first mission within the code file. You can change all other missions but for infinite Tower Bux you will invent your own. Names within the arrow heads <...> are references for the game. <dict> is beginning of mission coding and </dict> is the end. For a mission to be recognized by the game it must start with <dict> and end with </dict>. Note that the / will mean 'end'. The same applies to all other elements within the arrow heads.
  8. Find one of the mission codes from <dict>... to ... </dict> and highlight it.
  9. Copy the selected text (including the <dict> & </dict>) and paste it at the end of all other mission codes. This way you are creating your own mission without deleting others. Note that </array></plist> must be the very last thing written as these are final end markers of the file, so do not delete them.
  10. In your copied text, find where it says <key>products</key><string>2:0:1500,14:0:2800</string>. This is the type and amount of products required to achieve this mission. Change it so to look like this: <string>6:0:1</string> (note that half of the numbers are deleted)
  11. Find where it says <key>reward</key<string>10</string>. This is the amount of Tower Bux you receive when completing this mission. Change the 10 between <string> & </string> to 1410065000 (maximum Tower Bux allowed within the game).
  12. Find where it says: <key>description</key><string>A Mad Hatter is thowing a absolutely mad tea party and needs the following:\N</string>. Change it to look like this: <key>description</key><string>An easy start for a great player.</string>
  13. Find where it says: <key>name</key><string>One Mad Tea Party</string>. Change it to look like this: <key>name</key><string>Easy Start</string>
  14. Save the file and ensure it is named missions.plist
  15. Drag it back into the Documents folder where you copied the original missions.plist from. iExployer will ask if you want to 'delete the specified file', you select YES.
  16. Open Tiny Tower on your device and go to Menu, Missions. The new mission titled: Easy Start should be at the bottom and have a lot of Bux as a reward. Select it and then finish the mission to earn your money. If you select this mission right after you complete the tutorial then you will have more than enough tower bux for everything.

If you follow these steps then the last mission in your game will be called 'Easy Start' and will only need '1 - 6" Sub' to complete it. Select the mission and stock the item, you will receive the reward. If you stock the item and nothing happens then restart your device and it should work. If this mission does not show up in your mission select screen then you coded incorrectly and/or did not include the file 'end codes' </array></plist> at the very end of the missions file.

Other products for your missions can be found in floors.csv within the TinyTower.app folder. If inventing or changing missions note the meaning of the numbers: <string>2:0:1500,14:0:2800</string>. 3 numbers are needed to determine a single mission product, all separated by a colon (:). Additional mission product requirements are added with a comma (,). Here are what the numbers mean - 2:0:1500 = BusinessName:ProductName:QuantityNeeded note that there are only 3 products within each business, for missions they are numbered 0 to 2 (0,1,2) instead of the normal 1 to 3 (1,2,3). Example: I make a mission that has 2 requirements. <string>65:1:555,87:0:15</string> In floors.csv it translates to - <string>ComedyClub:LMAO's:555Quantity,PhotoStudio:PetProtrait:15Quantity</string>

You can change everything within the coding if you would like - max out Tower Bux Rewards for the already existing missions and change products and required quantities by changing the string quantity. BitCostume string names are found in costumes.csv (tinytower.app) for those that wish to customize their missions even further.

Change Stock Level

  1. Open com.eeenmachines.tinytowers in iExplorer.
  2. Open Tiny Tower.app
  3. Click and drag floors.csv to your desktop.
  4. Open floors.csv in Notepad, or another text editing program.
  5. You will see a bunch of text like 0,Sushi Bar,0,1,California Roll:2,Tuna Sushi:8,Sea Urchin:25
  6. What you want to pay attention to is California Roll:2,Tuna Sushi:8,Sea Urchin:25.
  7. The numbers after the name of the stock item refer to that item's level. The higher the number, the more items that will be stocked, and the longer that it will take to stock. Each level adds one minute and 15 items of stock.
  8. When you're done editing the levels, save the file.
  9. Click and drag it back to Tiny Tower.app in iExplorer, and when it asks if you want to delete the file, select yes.
  10. Make sure to fully close Tiny Tower in the multitask bar to see the changes.
  11. YOu can also change the name of the stock by changing where it says the name of the stock..

Make an Apartment a Profitable Floor

  1. Open con.eeenmachines.tinytowers in iExplorer.
  2. Open Tiny Tower.app
  3. Click and drag floors.csv to your desktop.
  4. Open floors.csv in Notepad, or another text editing program.
  5. Scroll down until you see apartments. You will see text like 50,Eclectic Apts.,5,4000,
  6. What you want to pay attention to is the ,5,.
  7. Put 10 in the 5's place (not sure if any other number will work).
  8. When your done editing, save the file.
  9. Click and drag it back to Tiny Tower.app in iExplorer, and when it asks if you want to delete the file, select yes.
  10. Make sure to fully close Tiny Tower in the multitask bar to see the changes.
  11. When you tap on the apartment, it should have three spaces for employment. Employ them and you will be able to stock 2nd Bedroom, 3rd Bedroom, and 3 Bed. Each player will have a skill number for the apartment and apparently people will still be living there.

Free Costumes and Bux

  1. Open com.eeenmachines.tinytowers in iExplorer.
  2. Open Tiny Tower.app
  3. Click and drag costumes.csv to your desktop.
  4. Open costumes.csv in Notepad, or another text editing program.
  5. You will see a bunch of text like panda suit,panda,5,58.58.58
  6. What you want to pay attention to is the very first number. That is how many bux it costs.
  7. For a free costume, change the first number to a zero. For free bux, put a minus sign in front of the first number.
  8. When you're done editing, save the file.
  9. Click and drag it back to Tiny Tower.app in iExplorer, and when it asks if you want to delete the file, select yes.
  10. Make sure to fully close Tiny Tower in the multitask bar to see the changes.

Mission Hacks for Free Bux

  1. Open Tiny Tower Application folder using iExplorer.
  2. Open the Documents folder.
  3. Drag the 'missions.plist' file to the desktop.
  4. Open the 'missions.plist' file on your desktop in a text editor.
  5. You will see <key>reward</key> followed by <string>5</string> (or some other number) at the end of each reward set.
  6. Change the number in the <string></string> set to the reward you would like to receive. You can safely put "9999", and copy and paste multiple missions of the same code. Simply copy from <dict> to the final </dict>. I do not know the limit, but have 107 missions with no issues.
  7. Use iExplorer to delete the existing 'missions.plist' file on the device.
  8. Drag the edited 'missions.plist' file to the documents folder
  9. Complete the reward and get the number of bux you entered.
